Unity Day
Bullying, a behavior that hurts, harms, or humiliates someone, either physically or emotionally, is a serious issue that directly impacts thousands of students every day. As damaging as bullying may be, there is hope! With education and awareness, bullying can be prevented at school, in neighborhoods, and online. When individuals unite against bullying, it helps create kinder, more accepting, and inclusive communities where fewer students experience bullying, more people speak out, and no one feels alone. At Carle Place we UNITE every October by wearing orange and doing activities to support kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

He also led the passing of a law in 2006 which requires education about suicide prevention in public schools. Spread the Love - The Hip Hop Way!
Our 12th grade Hip Hop classes meet with our 8th grade students to discuss a program they developed entitled Spread the Love – It’s the Hip Hop way! The class interacts in small groups with their younger peers giving them advice on how to effectively stand up for themselves and each other. They work on hypothetical situations, inform them on where to go if they need help and give their own words of encouragement. These students took on this task out of pure kindness and care for their peers, building upon Unity Day and Ryan Story giving middle school aged students the tools to advocate for themselves and others.
